The Past 10 years in Fantasy Football

Hey guys, sup?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately, about how Fantasy Football has changed so much friend when I started playing back in 2007. Back then we were jumping for MJD and LT and listening to songs like ‘Crank That’ by Soulja Boy…Yikes, I know.

Anyway, I’d like to take some time to reflect on fantasy, how its changed, its ups and downs, and look to the future.

Lets look at some of the best fantasy seasons in the past 10 years. (Since the 2008 season)

All points are standard scoring

Some great seasons right there. Not necessarily the top 10, but definitely some of the most notable since 2008.

When Chris Johnson, aka, CJ2K, was rushing for 2000 yards, we were all listening to ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus….not all of us? Just me? ok

Anyway, now that we’ve run through some of the most impressive seasons, how about some of the top busts in the last 10 years?

Todd Gurley, RB, STL – 2016

1,100 yards and 10 TDs ——> 885 yards and 6 TDs

Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN – 2014

1,200 yards and 11TDs ——-> 74 yards and a hurt child

(Suspended for Child Abuse)

Peyton Manning, QB, DEN – 2015

4,700 yards and 37 TDs ——-> 2,249 and 9 TDs

But hey, they won a Super Bowl, too bad that doesn’t give you any extra fantasy points.

Peyton Hillis, RB, CLE – 2011

1,200 yards and 11 TDs ——–> 587 yards and 3 TDs

Biggest Madden curse ever? Maybe

While we watched Hillis bust a bunch of fantasy players, we were all watching Occupy Wall Street protests on your favorite news channel.

Big Events in Fantasy Sports

2008 – About 15 million people playing

2009 – Daily Fantasy Sports introduced

2013 – 21 million people playing

2017 – 54 million people playing

Crazy how far the industry has come!
